In collaboration with Human Rights Nights

In the last years of Bruce Chatwin’s life, German director Werner Herzog collaborated with the English writer on some projects and an instinctive and deep friendship developed between the two of them. In Nomad Herzog follows the footsteps of Chatwin in his pilgrimages in search of the soul of the world, crossing continents with the inseparable leather backpack on his shoulders: the backpack that now belongs to Herzog, and which has become the third character of the film. Nomad takes us in search of the brontosaurus, in Patagonia, in front of the wreckage of a “fitzcarraldian” ship in Punta Arenas, Silbury Hill, in the Australian outback and inside prehistoric caves or indigenous cemeteries: “places where our paths crossed, or that we explored independently of each other,” as the director recalls.
